Members and guests
The weather has improved and the course is in excellent condition. Numbers have been a bit low of late, due to surrounding tournaments etc, so hopefully the numbers will spring back.
On a sad to note we acknowledge the passing of long time current member Terry Black. Terry passed away last Wednesday 13th November 2013. The board and members pass on our thoughts to Christine and family. He always played on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. He will be sadly missed.
Messages from President Clint: A reminder to members that the bar is open on Friday nights from 6.00pm. It was good to see a few regulars back in the clubhouse last Friday night so hopefully more can join us in the future. Don’t forget to come out and join Ben Cumming, as he has extended an invitation to all members to join him on Friday 22 November 2013. Come along for a drink or two to help him celebrate his big 40. Yummy nibbles will be provided.
Junior golf clinics are running every Monday from 4.00pm to 5.30pm. We have been able to source extra resources thanks to the funding we received from the Keppel Prince Junior Sports Fund. It is a sight to be seen with all the kids enjoying themselves and learning the game of golf.
Our ranger Glenn Anderson has had to resign due to work and home commitments (weekend’s & Sundays) so if anyone would like to take on the role I’m sure the members of our club would be most grateful. Thanks for your help Ando.
With the Seniors Tournament (see below) being played on Tuesday 26th November 2013 there will not be the normal Tuesday men’s stableford competition.
Message from Captain Daniel:
The PGC handicapper, John Baulch, will be running an information session on Thursday 28th November commencing at 7pm in the clubhouse. The session will cover an explanation of the new handicapping system which will be introduced from the 23rd January 2014. It is important for members to be aware of how the handicap system works for not only when they are playing at the PGC but also at other clubs.
Portland Golf Club 36th Annual Seniors Golf Tournament is being held on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 November 2013. The first day is a 4BBB stableford and the second the Frank Webb Memorial Trophy. Entries are starting to come in from around the district so men and ladies if you are in the age bracket of 50 and over drop in and fill out an entry form to these two great days of golf.
PGC Car Park: A special big thanks to Vice President Patto for the work and effort to have the cark park relined. It looks a picture Patto and we certainly appreciate the effort that you have made to finalise this project.
